Tips for Spanish students (beginners level).

1.- Spend most of your time listening! To learn the way a baby learns language, it's important to "take in" lots of Spanish at the beginning. Listen to fluent speakers. Language tapes and CDs can be helpful, but real-life practice is better.

2.- Act as if you know more than you do! Learn to have self-conficence around people who speak only Spanish. "Concentrate" when you are asked a question, and always answer with short responses. Imitate verbal and nonverbal expressions. Experiment with new words and phrases.

3.- Most of all relax. The idea of learning a new language scares de life out of most people, so don't feel ashamed. Just accept the fact that you are going to sound strange and look awkward for a while. It's no big deal. Never give up! Don't worry about a thing, have some fun, and just go for it.
